On Day-1 of the PSPB Inter-Unit Billiards and Snooker Tournament 2022-23, Pankaj Advani of ONGC has reached the final of the Professional Billiards Individual event by defeating Ishpreet Singh of GAIL 3-1.
Pankaj will now take on Brijesh Damani of IOCL who reached the final after winning the deciding frame of the semi-final match against defending champion Sourav Kothari of ONGC. During the match Brijesh posted three breaks of 51, 83 and 56 in the first, third and fifth games to achieve victory over Sourav Kothari.
Earlier today Pankaj defeated Shahbaaz Adil Khan of BPCL 3-1 in the quarter finals whereas Brijesh Damani knocked out his colleague from IOCL Dhvaj Haria 3-1.

Pankaj wins Professional Billiards title; Raufeeq became Non-Professional Billiards Champion
Yesterday late evening the final of the Professional and Non-Professional categories Billiards Individual of the 18th PSPB Inter-Unit Billiards and Snooker Tournament 2022-23 were played.
In the professional category, Pankaj Advani of ONGC defeated Brijesh Damani of IOCL by winning 3 games to 1. Pankaj scored break of 80 points in first game when Brijesh countered with a break of 82 to level the match.
In third game, Pankaj sent another break of 91 points and in fourth Brijesh once again obtained the initial lead but before he could seal the game, Pankaj sent another break of 76 points to win the match and title.
Meanwhile Ishpreet Singh of GAIL defeated Sourav Kothari of ONGC 3-2 in the placing match for the third position. Ishpreet was leading 2-0 when Sourav made a recovery and won next two games to level the match. He further made a break of 53 in decider but before confirming the victory, he gave a chance to Ishpreet who sent a break of 50 points to secure third position.
For the Non-Professional category, Raufeek from GAIL won the title defeating Tolan Baruah of OIL. After 60 minutes game of final, Raufeek scored 181 against 69 of Tolan to outclass him and winning the title.
Today Team Billiards match started where Team ONGC has reached the final and set to play against Team IOCL.
Team ONGC defeated OIL India having a score of 400 against 25, whereas Team IOCL knocked out Team BPCL 546-500 to confirm final berth.

ONGC wins the Team Billiards title; IOCL stayed No.2
Star studded Team ONGC with its players Pankaj Advani, Rupesh Shah, Dhruv Sitwala and Sourav Kothari has won the Team Billiards title of the 18th PSPB Inter-Unit Billiards and Snooker Tournament 2022-23. The competition is being played at KSBA, Bengaluru where the final of the Team Billiards was played last night between Team ONGC and Team IOCL (Aditya Mehta, Brijesh Damani, Dhvaj Haria and Laxman Rawat).
The first game of 200 points was played between Dhruv Sitwala (ONGC) and Dhvaj Haria (IOCL). Dhruv kept Dhvaj at bay and within two visits he scored breaks of 96 and 104 (unfinished) to win the game 200-14.
The second game had a close contest between Sourav Kothari (ONGC) and Brijesh Damani (IOCL) where Brijesh succeeded to move ahead Sourav with scoreline 200 against 136 of Sourav.
For the final game, Pankaj Advani (ONGC) came to play against Aditya Mehta (IOCL) for the balance 78 points to win the title and he achieved that easily with a break of 62 in first visit and then remaining 16 points in next having score line 78-19 and total for ONGC 414-233.
BPCL secured the third position after defeating OIL India 400-49 in the placing match. For BPCL Devendra Joshi beat Arun Rao 200-70 and S. Shrikrishna beat Amarish Kamalapuri 200-32.
Today, Snooker Individual matches started for the Professional and Non-Professional categories.
In the Professional Category, Pankaj Advani (ONGC) has reached the Semi-Final stage after defeating Ishpreet Singh of GAIL 3-1. He will meet S. Shrikrishna of BPCL in the semi-finals who knocked out Rupesh Shah of ONGC after a nail-biting quarter final match 3-2. The entire match saw breaks of 73 and 50 from Rupesh, and 53, 64 from Shrikrishna.
The second semi-final will be played between Aditya Mehta (IOCL) and Dhvaj Haria (IOCL). Aditya played two matches today and knocked out Dvendra Joshi 3-0 and Laxman Rawat 3-2. Whereas Dhvaj Haria defeated Manan Chandra 3-2 after a thrilling quarter final match where Dhvaj was down 1-2 and had faced break of 80 from Manan but after that he secured a closely fought fourth frame to level the match. The decider was also tough and at one point Manan was about to win the match but he missed crucial pink to give chance and Dhvaj did the rest.
For the Non-Professional Snooker category, the defending champion Arif Akhtar from IOCL has reached the finals after winning the matches against Faiz Ahmed of GAIL 2-0, Tasrique A. Haque of OIL India 2-0. He will meet Amarish Kamalapuri of OIL who reached the final after winning against Raufeek of GAIL 2-1, Jaya Prakash of MRPL 2-0.
